                  Winning class – Lorenzano.  24 classes met 
                 the goal.

      Parents putting emphasis on school is the most important thing
1- Boyter:  Reading Log, Math/Spelling/Phonics
      20-30 minutes a night
      Should be able to do independently
2- Osborn: Reading Log, Math/Spelling
      20-30 minutes a night
      Do a little each night
If the HW is taking more than 20-30 minutes a night – Talk to the teacher!

Welcome Back Owl Families

Families of our Fantastic SPS OWLS! It's going to be a great year. Pto has lots to accomplish this year, and we need your help! Please come to our 1st General PTO Meeting, this Wednesday, August 15th at 6:30pm at the SPS Library.
There will be a brief panel on Homework expecations by three great teachers, Mrs Tingle from Kindergarten, Mrs. Boyter from 1st grade and Ms. Osborn from 2nd grade.
The SPS Executive Board would love to see all new and returning parents at this meeting.
Please join us this year, we have plently of fun things to tackle this year, and all are welcome.
Our fundraising efforts this year will be focused on purchasing ADDITIONAL playground equipment for the kiddos.
We will be doing the Great American Fundraising in the fall, our Read-a-thon in the spring, and some other really fun activities throughout the year. The always popular Donuts for Dads and Muffins for Moms will be a hit as always, and this year we are also going to try a Family Dinner/Game Night for SPS Families.
All this, plus, the 2nd ANNUAL HOOT N HOLLER Carnival/5K/Fun RUN!
Come join in the fun, it's sure to be a hoot!

May 2nd, 2013 Meeting / Elections

4. Organization’s Purpose – Work to help parents, students, and teachers by raising funds, helping with classroom projects, helping with events
5. Treasurer’s Report – Total fundraising this year $18,113.  After expenses $15,190
6. Current Issues: 
a. Document cameras update – Ordered.  Hopefully
 arriving before the end of the year.
b. Classroom expenditure update – Gift cards going out
 this week
c. CPA audit volunteer – Still needed (Perhaps swap with 
SIS)

a.        Hunt Memorial Tree (Talia):  Picked up tree, papers, gravel.  Tree will be planted next Tuesday.  Dedication to follow later (TBA)

b.        Work Days: March 14th  - Counting labels for Education

Kindergarten Round-Up 2012

Tuesday April 10 5-7:00 - GET YOUR REGISTRATION PACKET AND WELCOME FOLDER AND TAKE A TOUR OF THE SCHOOL!  THERE WILL BE A SNACK, A CRAFT TO COMPLETE, AND STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SIT INSIDE A SCHOOL BUS!

Thursday April 12 5-7:00 - REGISTRATION AND INFORMATIONAL PRESENTATION.  PARENTS & GUARDIANS CAN BRING IN COMPLETED REGISTRATION PACKETS TO OFFICIALLY REGISTER THEIR STUDENT.  THEY CAN ALSO ATTEND AN INFORMATIONAL PRESENTATION AND HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK QUESTIONS OF THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHING STAFF.  THIS DATE IS FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS ONLY (NO CHILDREN PLEASE).

3.  Upcoming Events

a.        Carnival Update (Lindsay)
April 14th. Runs will be at 8:00 and 9:00.  Carnival will be from 10:00-4:00

If anyone has ideas for the carnival, contact Lindsay

b.        February AR Store (Osborn)
Will be ont the 15th due to a field trip.

c.        Progress Monitoring Evaluations (Spooner)
Looking for parents to be trained to administer reading progress evaluations to students.
Training is about 9 hours (broken up). 


4.        Volunteers Needed: 

a.       Harkins Ticket Sales (Robyn)
Beginning of March a form will be sent home to order Summer movie tickets.
Volunteers needed for collecting, counting, and distributing tickets (dates TBA)

b.       Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast (Lindsay)
$6.00 per ticket.  SPS gets 50%.  (date TBA)
